Mayor’s Choice
The entry to most impress Pacific Grove’s Mayor, the Honorable Bill Peake.
Best Vehicle – 1,000cc or Less
The littlest of the Little Cars – at least where engine displacement is concerned. Entries must displace 1,000cc (61 cubic inches) or less, and have a production year no later than 1999.
Best Vehicle – 1,001cc to 1,800cc
Need a bit more “oomph” in your car? This category includes gas-sipping econocars alongside pure racers. All must displace less than 1,800cc (110 cubic inches.) and have a production year no later than 1999.
Best Electric Vehicle – Original or Conversion
While there’s been a presence of electric vehicles since the 19th Century, qualifying entries in this category must be 20 years old or older. Also, vehicles converted to electric with a production year no later than 2004 are also eligible.
Special Interest Award
The most interesting vehicle to embody the Little Car spirit which DOES NOT technically meet the entry rules for TLC.
Preservation Award – Best Vehicle in Original Condition
A tribute to well-preserved vehicles. The vehicle should be in good condition with most of its original factory paint intact, and a production year no later than 1999.
Most Promising Project
An “Atta Boy” for a particularly nice partial restoration/work-in-progress, regardless of the displacement class or power source. Must have a production year no later than 1999.
Most Interesting Display
Recognition for the best presentation of an entry. Appropriate accessories laid out and nice photo history are encouraged. A runway model posing in an NSU Wankel Spider? Here’s where imagination counts! Must have a production year no later than 1999.
Most Smile Per Mile
A totally subjective award for the entry that best delivers that warm, fuzzy feeling inside, delivers great satisfaction, and makes you break into a grin, or sometimes even outright laughter. Must have a production year no later than 1999.
The Coveted Big Award
Any vehicle that meets age (production year no later than 1999) and displacement rules is eligible for this top honor. Judges will seek out the car, van, or truck that is stopping spectators in their tracks, everyone’s favorite to use as a selfie background, and the one that stands out amongst the others in a sea of Little Cars.
